Portable 2 TB USB drive

The Seagate One Touch STKY2000400 is a 2 TB portable hard drive with a USB 3.0 interface and a textured black metal finish. It draws power from the USB connection and includes password-activated hardware encryption. The drive works with Windows, macOS and Chromebook systems and ships with an 18 inch (46 cm) USB 3.0 cable and downloadable Toolkit backup software.

Suits simple backups, not high-speed workflows

This drive suits users who want a compact, encrypted volume for document, photo or video backups and who prefer scheduled or one-click backup software. Buyers who need the sustained throughput of an SSD for active editing, large project files or frequent large transfers should consider a solid-state alternative instead.

Fits a laptop bag and a single USB port

The drive measures 4.52 x 3.07 x 0.46 inches and weighs 0.33 lb, so it slips into a bag without adding bulk. It requires only one USB 3.0 port for both data and power, freeing up outlets and leaving other ports available for peripherals. The included Toolkit software and a 1-year Mylio Create plan are ready to install once the drive is connected.

Questions about this item

Does this drive need a separate power adapter or does it run from the USB port?

It is powered by the USB connection, so no external power adapter is required.

Will I get full speed if I plug it into my older laptop that only has USB 2.0 ports?

The drive requires an available USB 3.0 port to achieve USB 3.0 transfer speeds; on USB 2.0 it will work but at the slower 2.0 rate.

How can I confirm the password encryption is active after I set it up?

After configuring a password in the Toolkit software, the drive will prompt for that password each time it is connected, confirming encryption is active.
