Recognises 13 hand gestures from 5-10 cm with a 5 V I2C interface for Arduino and Seeeduino boards
The Grove Gesture Sensor uses the PAJ7620U2 chip to recognise 13 distinct hand movements at a distance of 5 to 10 cm. It operates at 5 V over a standard I2C bus and is aimed at hobbyists adding touch-free control to Arduino or Seeeduino projects. The compact 20 mm square board includes built-in proximity detection for richer interaction. No soldering is required thanks to the supplied Grove cable.
The module connects through a keyed 4-pin Grove socket using the included 26 AWG cable, so wiring takes seconds on any compatible mainboard. Libraries exist for Arduino UNO, Mega2560 and Seeeduino, but code written for the older 9-gesture version must be updated to handle the full 13-gesture set. The sensor needs a clear line of sight; strong side lighting or a dirty lens can reduce reliable range.
This revision recognises 13 gestures compared with the earlier 9-gesture variant, which determines whether existing sketches will work without modification. If your application only needs basic directional swipes the older firmware may suffice, but new designs benefit from the expanded vocabulary. The I2C address and 5 V supply remain unchanged from the previous version.

Upload the example sketch to the connected board, open the serial monitor, and swipe your hand; the output will show one of the 13 gesture codes for each recognised movement
The package contains one Grove Gesture PCBA and one 26AWG Grove cable; a compatible mainboard such as an Arduino UNO, Seeeduino or Arduino Mega2560 is not included
This module uses the PAJ7620U2 chip and recognises 13 distinct gestures; there is no separate 9-gesture variant to select
