New Spin on Classic Sonic

Sonic Superstars on PlayStation 5 reimagines the classic side-scrolling formula with fresh mechanics. The Chaos Emeralds grant powers that let you multiply, swim up waterfalls, and change form. You can play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy Rose, each offering unique abilities to uncover hidden paths. This release carries an ESRB rating of E for Everyone.

Upgrade from Earlier 2D Entries

This title replaces the pixel-art style of earlier 2D Sonic games with a modern 3D art direction while keeping side-on gameplay. The jump is worth it if you want local co-op for up to four players or online Battle Mode against global opponents. Solo players who only want the original sprite aesthetic may prefer to stick with the older releases.

Sustained Multiplayer Sessions

The game holds up during extended play sessions thanks to varied character abilities that keep level exploration fresh over many hours. Local co-op remains stable with four active players on screen, and Battle Mode matches connect reliably for repeated online bouts. The structure supports long-term replay value through multiple character campaigns and competitive rankings.
