Sennheiser Electronic Communications HD 599 SE open-back headphone

Premium open-back headphone for audiophile listening

The Sennheiser HD 599 SE is an around-ear headphone designed for critical music listening at home. Its open-back architecture creates a wide soundstage suited to quiet rooms rather than noisy environments. Two detachable cables let you connect to both 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm sources without adapters. Buyers needing isolation for commuting or office use should consider closed-back models instead.

38 mm transducers with 50 ohm impedance

Proprietary 38 mm drivers deliver detailed dynamics and a natural tonal balance that reveals subtle nuances in recordings. The 50 ohm impedance allows direct connection to portable devices while still benefiting from dedicated headphone amplifiers. Bass extension is modest compared to closed designs, so listeners who prioritise deep sub-bass impact may find the low end lightweight.

Velour ear pads and padded headband for long

XL-size velour cushions distribute pressure evenly, reducing fatigue during extended listening. The adjustable headband adds further comfort without clamping force. Classic black finish with matte metallic silver accents gives a restrained aesthetic. The non-folding frame requires desk or stand space when not in use, making it less suited to portable storage.
