What the product is

Duck Clean Release Blue Painter's Tape is a medium-adhesion masking tape designed for clean paint lines on hard, durable surfaces. The six-roll pack supplies 0.94-inch by 60-yard rolls for indoor and outdoor projects where 14-day UV resistance is required.

What the standard changes

Meeting ASTM D 6123/D 6123M-97 (2012) Type I confirms the tape satisfies a recognised specification for masking performance. The synthetic rubber-based adhesive is formulated to prevent lifting and paint seepage while still releasing cleanly within the stated window.

Where the tape falls short

The tape is not recommended for wallpaper, unpainted wallboard, ceiling tile or any surface with uncured coatings. Buyers needing safe masking on delicate surfaces such as fresh drywall or decorative wallcoverings will need a different product.

Questions about this item

After the 14-day UV resistance window closes, does the tape leave residue or require surface repair?

The tape is designed for clean removal within 14 days of application, even with UV exposure. Leaving it longer increases the risk of adhesive transfer or surface damage, especially on painted walls or trim.

What limits continuous outdoor exposure before the adhesive breaks down?

The 14-day UV resistance rating (ASTM D 6123/D 6123M-97 Type I) defines the maximum recommended outdoor exposure. Beyond that, synthetic rubber adhesive may degrade, reducing holding power and clean release.

Does the synthetic rubber adhesive soften or fail when the tape runs all day in direct sun?

The tape meets ASTM D 6123/D 6123M-97 Type I for 14-day UV resistance, meaning the adhesive maintains integrity and clean removal during that period. Extended heat and sun exposure beyond 14 days is not rated.
