Cylindrical M18 photoelectric sensor with M12 connector, 78 mm long, IP67 rated

Sick

Sick VTF18-3F5740 Photoelectric Proximity Sensor PNP

SKU CH-R28P-K08JF

Cylindrical M18 photoelectric sensor detects objects up to 45 mm with background blanking, focused infrared optics, PNP output and IP67 rating

  • PNP switching output suits standard PLC inputs
  • Background blanking ignores objects beyond 45 mm sensing range
  • Focused infrared LED spot Ø 3 mm at 25 mm distance
  • IP67 enclosure withstands dust and water immersion
  • Operates from –25 °C to +70 °C ambient temperature

Purpose-built proximity sensor

The Sick VTF18-3F5740 is a cylindrical photoelectric proximity sensor with background blanking and a focused infrared LED spot. It mounts via an M18 thread and connects through a 4-pin M12 male connector for straightforward integration into industrial control systems.

Upgrade from basic diffuse sensors

Background blanking suppresses reflections from surfaces beyond the 45 mm sensing range, reducing false triggers that occur with standard diffuse models. The jump is worthwhile when a stable detection zone is needed in confined spaces where background objects sit close to the target.

Suited for short-range presence detection

This unit fits machines that need reliable object sensing up to 45 mm with a 3 mm light spot at 25 mm distance. It is not for applications requiring longer range, analog output, or a different output type such as NPN.
