The Sick WS/WE100-N1439 is a through-beam photoelectric sensor designed for automated object detection in industrial environments. It uses visible red LED light at 680 nm to sense targets across a maximum range of 15 m with an effective sensing range up to 12 m. The rectangular housing measures 11 mm x 31 mm x 20 mm and weighs 106 g.

DC supply limits and output constraints

The unit operates on 10 V DC to 30 V DC with a ± 10 % ripple tolerance and draws 15 mA for the sender and 20 mA for the receiver. Its NPN switching output delivers a maximum of 100 mA with a signal voltage below 1.8 V and a response time of 0.5 ms at 1 000 Hz switching frequency. Connection is via a 2 m PVC cable with 0.18 mm² conductors and A, B, D circuit protection.

NPN light/dark switching for PLC compatibility

The sensor features a selectable light/dark rotary switch and a 270° potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment, making it suitable for PLC inputs that require NPN logic. It is not suited for systems needing PNP output or analogue signal transmission. The IP65-rated ABS/PC/POM housing with PMMA optics withstands –25 °C to +55 °C operating temperatures and includes two stainless steel 1.4301 mounting brackets.
