The Sick WTB9-3P1161 is a rectangular photoelectric proximity sensor with background suppression for industrial detection tasks. It operates on 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply voltage and provides a PNP complementary output with light/dark switching. The visible red PinPoint LED emits at 650 nm wavelength with a 4.5 mm light spot at 75 mm distance. Sensing range reaches 20 mm to 350 mm maximum and 20 mm to 200 mm standard.

Installation with 2 m PVC cable and M3 mounting

The sensor connects via a 4-wire PVC cable measuring 2 m in length with 0.14 mm² conductor cross-section. Mounting uses an M3 hole on the 12.2 mm x 50 mm x 23.6 mm plastic VISTAL housing. Potentiometer adjustment offers 5 turns for precise background suppression setting. IP66, IP67 and IP69K enclosure ratings protect against water ingress during washdown. Misalignment or incorrect potentiometer turns can reduce reliable detection at the 200 mm range.

Sustained operation from –40 °C to +60 °C

The sensor maintains switching frequency of 1,500 Hz with response time under 0.333 ms across the full ambient operating temperature range. Power consumption stays at 30 mA with ripple below 5 Vpp during continuous use. Output current handles up to 100 mA while circuit protection guards against wiring faults. Plastic PMMA optics resist degradation in harsh environments up to +75 °C storage temperature. Protection class III insulation ensures safe low-voltage operation throughout extended duty cycles.
