A 50 A, two-pole miniature circuit breaker rated for 480 V AC with a 14 kA interrupting rating, bolt-on mounting for Siemens P1 panelboards
The Siemens BQD250 is a bolt-on miniature circuit breaker rated at 50 amps and 480 volts AC for single-phase loads. It fits Siemens P1 panelboards and load centers that accept the BQD frame size. The breaker uses a toggle actuator and lug terminals for standard wire connections. It is not suited for panels that require a different frame or mounting style.
The device carries a maximum AIR rating of 14 kA at 480 volts AC, providing short-circuit protection within that limit. It is also rated for 125/250 volts DC where applicable. The maximum operating temperature is 104 degrees Fahrenheit, so the enclosure must stay within this ambient range. No active cooling or fan is included, and power draw is limited to the protected circuit itself.
This unit replaces an existing BQD-series breaker of the same ampere rating and pole count when the old device is worn, tripped irreversibly, or no longer meets inspection. The upgrade is worthwhile when a 50-amp, two-pole slot becomes available and the panel schedule calls for 480-volt AC single-phase protection. It does not add poles, increase frame size, or fit non-P1 panelboards.

Align the bolt-on base with the panelboard bus, torque the mounting bolts to spec, then snap the lug terminals onto the conductors; the step often missed is verifying the 100 A frame fits the P1 rail before tightening.
Periodically re-torque the lug connections, exercise the toggle actuator, and inspect for discoloration; replace the unit if it trips near 50 A without overload or after a 14 kA fault event.
The 104 °F maximum operating temperature is the first sustained-use limit; exceeding it degrades calibration and can cause nuisance tripping before the 14 kA interrupting rating is tested.
