Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Nikon 210-306 camera lens

What this lens is and who it suits

The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens is a constant-aperture zoom built for Nikon F-mount DSLRs with APS-C sensors. It covers a 18-35mm focal range that becomes 27-52.5mm equivalent on DX-format bodies, making it useful for environmental portraits, street scenes and interior work. The fast f/1.8 aperture stays constant through the zoom range, giving consistent exposure and shallow depth of field. It is not for photographers who need full-frame coverage or a longer telephoto reach.

What to verify on your camera before ordering

Confirm that your Nikon DSLR uses the F mount and has an APS-C sensor so the 27-52.5mm equivalent field of view applies. The lens relies on the camera body for autofocus drive via its HSM motor, so ensure your model supports in-lens AF motors. Internal focusing and zooming mean the barrel does not extend, which helps with polarising filters but does not change filter-thread size. Buyers who need image stabilisation or weather sealing should look elsewhere.

Build quality and daily handling implications

The lens uses Special Low Dispersion elements to control curvature aberrations and minimise astigmatism across the zoom range. Its thermally stable composite construction balances durability with reduced weight for extended shooting sessions. A brass bayonet mount provides a secure connection to the F-mount flange. The wide rubber focus ring and zoom ring operate smoothly for precise manual adjustments during video or critical focus work.
