Extends DVI sources to HDMI displays up to 80 feet over CAT5e cable at 1080p resolution
The SIIG CE-D20012-S1 converts a single-link DVI 1.1 source to HDMI and sends the signal up to 80 feet over CAT5e or CAT6 cable. It suits installers who need to bridge a DVI player to a distant HDMI display without running long native cables.
Standard DVI and HDMI cables lose integrity beyond a few metres; this extender pair pushes 1080p at 25 metres and 720p or 1080i at 40 metres. The jump is worth it whenever the display sits farther than a typical cable allows and rewiring with fibre is not justified.
At 1080p the link remains stable to 25 metres; at 720p or 1080i it reaches 40 metres. Beyond those distances the video bandwidth of 1.65 Gbps is exceeded and signal quality drops, so longer runs need a different transmission method.

Both units are mini-sized; the transmitter has one DVI-D and one RJ-45 port while the receiver has one HDMI and one RJ-45 port, so they occupy minimal space behind a flat panel.
No drivers are required; connect the DVI source to the transmitter, link the two units with a CAT5e/6 cable up to 80 ft for 1080p, then connect the receiver to the HDMI display — the link establishes automatically.
The extender draws a maximum of 5 watts from the included power adapters; solid-core CAT5e/6 cable rated for in-wall use is recommended for permanent runs to avoid future signal degradation.
