Purpose and users
This bidirectional 3.5 mm audio switcher lets a single listener toggle between two sources or send one source to two outputs. It suits desktop users, office workers or anyone sharing speakers or headphones between a computer and a second device. It does not help buyers who need simultaneous playback on both outputs or who rely on four-segment headset connectors.
Signal limits
The analog path accepts a maximum of 2 V peak-to-peak and passes 20 Hz to 20 kHz, so line-level gear and typical headphone outputs stay clean. Only three-segment 3.5 mm plugs are supported; four-segment headsets with a microphone ring will not work.
Installation and pitfalls
Plug the cables in and press the selector button — no power supply or software is required. Keep cable runs under 8 m on each side to stay within the rated distance. The most common issue is inserting a four-pole headset, which leaves the microphone dead and can short the audio channels.
