Compact Daylight LED Kit

The SmallRig RM01 is a pocket-sized LED video light weighing 63 grams and measuring 3.8 by 3.6 by 3.8 centimetres. It delivers a fixed 5600K output with a CRI of 95 and TLCI of 96 for accurate colour rendering. The 3-watt COB source runs from an internal 800mAh battery charged via USB-C. It is aimed at macro photographers, stop-motion creators and anyone needing a tiny, waterproof fill light.

Magnetic Modifier System

The kit ships with a magnetic frame that accepts eight colour filters, a diffuser, a honeycomb grid, a blaster and a barndoor for precise beam shaping. A cold-shoe mount and a 1/4"-20 thread on the base allow direct camera mounting or use on mini tripods and arms. All accessories attach without tools, turning the single unit into a versatile micro studio for close-up work.

Battery Runtime and Limits

At full power the light lasts about one hour; lower brightness settings extend this to a maximum of five hours. The non-removable battery recharges through the USB-C port so a power bank can keep it running. Output is limited to 3 watts, so the light suits tabletop, macro and detail scenes but cannot illuminate larger subjects or compete with daylight outdoors.

Questions about this item

How often will the 800mAh battery need recharging during a full-day shoot?

At maximum output the light runs for about 1 hour on a full charge; at lower brightness it can reach up to 5 hours, so plan to recharge or connect USB-C power for longer sessions.

What is the first limit reached when the RM01 runs continuously at 100 % brightness?

The 800mAh cell drains after roughly 1 hour at full 3 W output, making battery endurance the primary constraint before heat or other factors.

Does the PC+ABS body stay cool and silent during all-day operation?

The 3 W COB runs fanless and the housing is rated for high heat resistance; it remains silent and only warm to the touch even after extended use.
