8K DisplayPort 1.4 fibre cable
This 50-metre active optical cable carries DisplayPort 1.4 signals between a source device and a display. It supports 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz, making it suitable for high-resolution workstations or home-theatre PCs that need a very long run. The hybrid glass-fibre and copper construction keeps the cable slim enough for tight conduit or in-wall routing.
Bandwidth and distance limits
The link runs at the full 32.4 Gbps specified by DisplayPort 1.4, but only if both the graphics output and the monitor implement that standard. DSC 1.2 compression is required for the highest resolutions at the stated refresh rates. The cable is backward compatible with the 1.2 standard, so older 1080p or 1440p gear will still work, though at their native limits rather than the cable's maximum.
Installation notes
Because the cable is directional, the connector marked "Source" must plug into the PC or laptop and the one marked "Display" into the monitor or projector; reversing them yields no signal. The thin TPE jacket and small connector heads ease passage through walls, but the fibre cores must not be kinked sharply. Gold-plated contacts resist corrosion, yet dust in the ports remains the most common cause of intermittent links.

Questions about this item
Should I choose the 164ft length or is a shorter run better for 8K?
At 164ft the fiber-optic link still delivers the full 32.4Gbps bandwidth, so 8K@60Hz and 4K@144Hz are maintained without the signal loss seen on copper at this distance.
What does 32.4Gbps actually give me on my monitor?
It carries 7680x4320 at 60Hz or 3840x2160 at 144Hz and 240Hz, plus HDR10 and Dolby Vision, provided both GPU and display support those modes.
Does the DisplayPort 1.4 connection limit 8K or HDR features?
DP 1.4 caps at 32.4Gbps, so 8K@60Hz and 4K@240Hz are the ceiling; higher refresh at 8K or uncompressed 10-bit 4K above 144Hz would need DP 2.1.
