Bidirectional HDMI switching and splitting

This SMUGDESK adapter works as both a source selector and a signal splitter in a single compact unit. It lets you toggle between two devices on one display or duplicate one source to two screens with a single button press. No driver installation or external power supply is required for operation.

Bus-powered design removes adapter clutter

The unit draws power directly from the connected HDMI sources, eliminating the need for a separate wall wart or USB cable. Gold-plated connectors reduce signal loss while the integrated LED indicator shows the active channel at a glance. Setup is strictly plug-and-play across compatible devices.

Check HDCP compliance on your sources

Protected streaming and Blu-ray content will only pass through if both the source and display support HDCP handshakes. Verify that your cables and ports handle the required 4K, 1080, or 720 resolutions you intend to use. Buyers needing simultaneous dual-monitor output from one source should note this device duplicates rather than extends the desktop.

Questions about this item

Will the gold-plated HDMI connectors need any periodic cleaning or replacement?

The gold-plated connectors resist corrosion and are designed for the life of the switch; no scheduled cleaning or replacement is required under normal indoor use.

What is the highest resolution the switch can sustain without signal degradation during long sessions?

The unit passes Ultra HD 4K, 3D, 1080P/1080i/720P signals with HDCP pass-through, so 4K is the maximum supported resolution for continuous operation.

Does the bus-powered design generate noticeable heat or fan noise when left on all day?

The switch draws power from the HDMI signal itself, has no fan, and runs silently with only minimal warmth during extended use.
