What the cable does

The SMUGDESK Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 cable carries video and audio between a Mini DisplayPort source and a standard DisplayPort display, or the reverse. It is rated for 32.4 Gbps bandwidth and supports HDR, G-Sync and FreeSync. The 10 ft length suits desktop setups where the host and screen are separated by a moderate distance.

Who should use it and who should not

It suits owners of laptops, MacBooks or desktops with Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 2 ports who need to drive a DisplayPort monitor at high refresh rates. Buyers whose devices only offer HDMI, USB-C without DP Alt Mode, or legacy DVI ports cannot use this cable. It also does not fit full-size DisplayPort sources connecting to full-size DisplayPort displays.

The specification that decides fit

The cable implements DisplayPort 1.4 with 32.4 Gbps throughput, enabling 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz. If your display and graphics hardware require that exact bandwidth tier, this cable meets it; if they demand a higher or lower standard, a different cable is required.
