Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 cable for 8K

This one-metre cable connects a Mini DisplayPort source to a standard DisplayPort display. It suits laptop or desktop owners who need 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz video with HDR. The bi-directional design also works from a full-size DisplayPort source to a Mini DisplayPort monitor. Thunderbolt 2 ports on compatible MacBooks are supported.

DisplayPort 1.4 bandwidth caps resolution

The 32.4 Gbps link allows 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz, 1440p at 240 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz. Higher refresh rates at 8K or 4K beyond these figures are not possible over this standard. HDR, G-Sync and FreeSync function within the same bandwidth envelope. The cable cannot exceed the DisplayPort 1.4 specification limits.

Plug-and-play connection with durable braided jacket

Gold-plated connectors and triple-layer shielding reduce signal distortion during insertion. The nylon braid resists kinking in tight desk routing. No drivers are required; the link negotiates automatically. Ensure both ports are clean and fully seated to avoid intermittent video or audio dropouts.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the 1 m length and other lengths for my desk setup?

The 1 m (3.3 ft) cable reaches most monitor-to-laptop distances without excess slack; choose a longer cable only if the display sits farther than one metre from the Mini DisplayPort source.

What does the 8K 60 Hz rating actually deliver when I plug this into my 4K 144 Hz monitor?

The cable carries 32.4 Gbps bandwidth, so a 4K 144 Hz signal passes at full 4:4:4 colour with HDR, G-Sync and FreeSync support, leaving headroom for 8K 60 Hz if you upgrade later.

Does the DisplayPort 1.4 connection limit 4K to 120 Hz or can it handle 144 Hz?

DisplayPort 1.4 on this cable supports 4K at 144 Hz, 2K at 240 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz, so 120 Hz is well within the 32.4 Gbps ceiling.
