Raspberry Pi 5 PoE Splitter

This SMUGDESK splitter delivers 5V 4A power and gigabit data to a Raspberry Pi 5 over a single Ethernet cable. It accepts IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at power from a PoE switch or injector and separates the signal into a USB-C power lead and a 10 100 1000Mbps network link. The compact unit is built for home labs, embedded projects and remote deployments where a separate power adapter is impractical.

Before you order

Verify that your PoE source is an active IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at device, as passive or non-standard injectors can damage the Pi 5. Confirm the switch or injector provides enough power budget to sustain the 5V 4A output under full peripheral load. Ensure you have a standard Ethernet cable for the PoE input and a short patch lead to connect the splitter data port to the Pi 5 LAN port.

Sustained load behaviour

The high-efficiency conversion circuit maintains stable 5V 4A delivery while preserving full gigabit throughput during continuous operation. This allows the Pi 5 and attached peripherals to run at full load without bandwidth degradation or voltage droop over long periods. The plug-and-play design requires no drivers, so the link remains reliable through extended uptime in servers, automation or surveillance roles.

Questions about this item

Does the splitter include any cables or a PoE injector, or must those be purchased separately?

The unit itself is the only item supplied; a standard Ethernet cable and an IEEE 802.3af/at compliant PoE switch or injector must be provided by the user.

Is there a choice of output voltages or current ratings for different Pi models?

No — the adapter is built specifically for Raspberry Pi 5 and delivers a fixed 5V 4A output via its USB-C connector.

Will the gigabit Ethernet port actually sustain 1000 Mbps throughput when the Pi 5 is under full load?

Yes, the splitter maintains full 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet performance with zero bandwidth loss while supplying 5V 4A power.
