Converts 2010-2011 MacBook Air 12+6Pin SSDs to standard 22Pin SATA with USB 3.0 cable for data recovery
The SMUGDESK adapter converts the proprietary 12+6Pin SSD from 2010 and 2011 MacBook Air A1369 and A1370 models into a standard SATA 22Pin interface. It includes a USB 3.0 to SATA cable for direct external connection. Designed for owners of those specific Apple laptops who need to access or repurpose the original solid-state drive.
The passive PCB draws power from the host SATA or USB port and has no active cooling components. Gold-plated contacts on the industrial-grade board maintain stable signal transmission without generating measurable heat. Operation is silent because there are no fans or moving parts.
The board provides reserved screw holes for fixed installation inside a desktop SATA drive bay. The included USB 3.0 cable enables external use without opening a case. It works driver-free on Windows 7, 8, 10, 11, macOS and mainstream Linux. The adapter does not support 7+17Pin SSDs from 2012 or later MacBook Air models, nor drives from other manufacturers.

Align the proprietary 12+6Pin SSD with the matching socket on the PCB, press firmly until fully seated, then connect the included USB 3.0 to SATA cable or mount the board via its screw holes inside a desktop SATA bay; the step often missed is ensuring the gold-plated pins are completely engaged before powering on.
The cable is a passive USB 3.0 to SATA assembly with an ASM1153E bridge chip; if transfer speeds drop or the drive disappears, inspect the connectors for dust or bent pins and replace the cable with another USB 3.0 to SATA lead — no other parts on the adapter require servicing.
The ASM1153E bridge caps throughput at SATA III 6 Gbps, so sustained sequential transfers will plateau at that bandwidth ceiling before any thermal or drive limit appears.
