This USB 3.0 Type A male-to-male cable connects compatible peripherals such as hard-drive enclosures, printers, modems and cameras to a host port. It supports SuperSpeed transfer at up to 5 Gbps and remains backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports. The 1 m length suits typical desktop arrangements.

Not for host-to-host or OTG use

The A-to-A wiring is intended for peripheral-to-host connections, not for linking two computers or acting as an On-The-Go host cable. Buyers who need direct PC-to-PC data transfer or a host-capable OTG link should choose a different cable type.

Questions about this item

What does 5 Gbps mean when I plug this cable into my computer?

It is the theoretical maximum for USB 3.0 SuperSpeed; real-world throughput depends on the drive, controller and file mix, so sustained rates are usually lower.

Which USB standard does the Type A male-to-male connector use, and what does that limit?

The cable follows USB 3.0, so it caps at 5 Gbps and will fall back to USB 2.0 or 1.1 speeds if either port is older.
