What this cable does

The SMUGDESK USB 4.0 Gen 3 cable carries up to 40Gbps bi-directional data, delivers up to 240W Power Delivery 3.1 charging and drives an 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz display. It suits owners of Thunderbolt 3 or 4 laptops, docks and high-speed storage who need full bandwidth and maximum charging in a single 3.3ft braided lead.

Check your host port first

Video output requires a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode; not every Type-C socket provides it. The cable is backward compatible with USB 3.2, 3.1 and 2.0 devices, but full 40Gbps speed and 240W charging only activate when both host and peripheral support USB4 Gen 3x2 and PD 3.1 Extended Power Range.

Replaces older limited cables

It upgrades from 60W or 100W USB-C leads that cannot supply 140W to a MacBook Pro 16'' under full load or drive 8K video. The jump is worth it when you need simultaneous top-tier data, maximum charging and high-resolution display output through one reversible right-angle connector.
