USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable

The SMUGDESK cable carries DisplayPort 1.4 signals over a USB-C connector with Thunderbolt 4/3 compatibility. It delivers up to 32.4Gbps bandwidth and supports 8K at 60Hz, 4K at 144Hz and 2K at 240Hz. DSC 1.2 compression provides visually lossless quality. The 6.6ft length suits desktop setups.

Suits Thunderbolt 3 or 4 hosts needing high

Ideal for MacBook Pro, Mac Studio, iPad Pro, Dell XPS and Samsung Galaxy devices that support DP Alt Mode. Handles multi-stream transport for up to four 1080p displays. Not for hosts without DP Alt Mode or devices limited to lower DisplayPort versions. Buyers needing longer runs or active signal boosting should look elsewhere.

Drives 8K 60Hz, 4K 144Hz and 2K 240Hz

Comfortably runs 7680x4320 at 60Hz, 3840x2160 at 144Hz and 2560x1440 at 240Hz with 10-bit HDR. Backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1. Bandwidth headroom ends at 32.4Gbps, so higher resolutions or refresh rates beyond the listed modes are not supported.

Questions about this item

Does my laptop need a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode for this cable to work?

Yes, the USB-C source device must support DP Alt Mode; the cable uses DisplayPort 1.4 over USB-C and is compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and 3 ports.

Will this cable run a DisplayPort 1.2 monitor at its native 144 Hz 1440p without issues?

The cable is backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 and 1.1 and supports 2560x1440 at 144 Hz, 165 Hz and 240 Hz, so a DP 1.2 monitor will run at its rated refresh rate.

How can I confirm the link is running at 32.4 Gbps after I plug it in?

Check the display settings on your host — Windows shows the active link rate and resolution, and macOS System Report lists the negotiated DisplayPort version and HBR3 bandwidth.
