USB-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

The SMUGDESK adapter adds a wired RJ45 port to any USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 laptop, tablet or PC. It uses the Realtek RTL8153 chipset to deliver gigabit network access without an internal card. The reversible Type-C connector plugs in either orientation for quick, driver-free setup on modern systems.

Driver support by operating system

Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and macOS 10.9 or later provide true plug-and-play operation with no software required. Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2003 need a one-time virtual optical drive step to install the driver. Android and Linux devices are supported when the host hardware or debugging mode allows the RTL8150, RTL8152 or RTL8153 chip to enumerate.

Reversible USB-C connector

The compact dongle uses a reversible Type-C plug so it fits any USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port without checking orientation. This single physical interface determines whether the adapter can be used with a specific device. Buyers whose hardware only offers USB-A ports cannot connect this adapter.
