USB4 cable with Thunderbolt 4 support
This USB4 cable works with Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 hosts and devices. It is also backward compatible with USB-C 3.2, 3.1 and 2.0 speeds. The 1.6FT length suits desktop setups where the host and peripheral sit close together.
240W charging and 40Gbps data
The cable delivers up to 240W of power, moving beyond earlier 60W and 100W limits. Data transfers run at 40Gbps, twice the rate of standard USB-C Thunderbolt cables. No active cooling or external power is required, so operation stays silent.
8K display output and broad device support
A single 8K@60Hz or 5K@60Hz display can be driven, or dual 4K@60Hz displays simultaneously. Video output requires the host USB-C port to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode. The cable connects MacBook Pro, iMac, iMac Pro, MacBook Air, Windows Thunderbolt 3/4 laptops and PCs, docking stations and high-speed storage.

Questions about this item
How do I install the SMUGDESK USB4 cable, and what step is often missed?
Connect the USB-C ends to both devices. The step people miss is confirming the host port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode before expecting 8K@60Hz video output.
What maintenance or replacement will this cable need later?
No scheduled maintenance is required. Replace the cable only if the connectors become loose, the jacket frays, or 40Gbps data or 240W charging no longer negotiate reliably.
What limit appears first during sustained 240W charging?
The 1.6FT length keeps resistance low, so the first limit is usually the host or device thermal throttle reducing power below 240W before the cable itself saturates.
