What this cable delivers

The SMUGDESK USB4 cable carries 40Gbps data and up to 240W power over a 3.3FT USB‑C to USB‑C link. It is built for Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 hosts and devices, and also works with USB 3.2, 3.1 and 2.0 gear.

Check your ports before ordering

Your host port must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode if you plan to drive a display. For full 40Gbps speed and 240W charging both ends need Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 3 certification; older USB‑C ports will fall back to their rated speed and power limits.

How it fits a Thunderbolt setup

One cable replaces separate charge and video leads, powering a laptop at 240W while driving an 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz monitor chain. It connects docks, high‑speed storage and peripherals without extra adapters, but it cannot add Thunderbolt capability to a non‑Thunderbolt port.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need any extra adapters to use the 240 W charging?

The box contains the 3.3 ft USB‑C to USB‑C cable only. No separate adapter is included; 240 W charging works when both the power source and the device support USB Power Delivery at that level.

Should I choose the 1.6 ft or 3.3 ft version for a desktop setup with an 8K monitor?

The 3.3 ft length gives more routing freedom for a desktop-to-monitor run, while the 1.6 ft version is tighter for dock-to-laptop use. Both support 8K@60 Hz and 40 Gbps data.

What does the 40 Gbps rating mean when I connect a Thunderbolt 4 dock and high‑speed storage?

The cable is certified for 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 4 traffic, so a compatible dock and storage device can transfer at that full bandwidth without the cable being the bottleneck.
