Original arcade action on Steam

METAL SLUG arrives on PC as a Steam downloadable game, delivering the first entry in SNK CORPORATION's classic 2D run-and-gun series. Players control Marco and Tarma through six missions, piloting the iconic tank to stop General Morden. The release requires a Steam account for activation and installation on Windows Vista, 7, or 8.

Online co-op and stage select

The Steam version adds online multiplayer co-op, letting two players tackle missions together over the internet. Mission mode allows replaying any unlocked stage for practice or score improvement. Configurable controls, language, video display, and sound settings adapt the experience to modern hardware, while leaderboards track high scores globally.

Minimum Windows requirements

The game runs on a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor with 1 GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics, requiring DirectX 9.0c. Buyers without a Steam account cannot activate the product. Systems lacking legacy OS support or the specified DirectX version will not meet the minimum specification.

Questions about this item

Will I need to keep a Steam account active to play METAL SLUG later?

Yes, a Steam account is required for activation and installation, so you must maintain access to that account to download or re-install the game in the future.

What hardware limit will I hit first when running this game for long sessions?

The minimum spec calls for a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor and 1 GB RAM, so the single-core CPU speed and low memory ceiling are the first bottlenecks under sustained load.

How much heat or fan noise should I expect from my PC while playing this title all day?

With minimum graphics needs of Intel HD Graphics and DirectX 9.0c, the game places very little demand on modern GPUs, so temperatures and fan speeds stay near idle levels during extended play.
