What this product is

METAL SLUG X is a downloadable PC game delivered as a Steam activation code. The 2014 release brings the classic 2D run-and-gun arcade experience to modern Windows systems. It is aimed at players who want the original arcade balance and pixel-art style without hunting for vintage hardware. The package includes the full campaign and online co-operative multiplayer.

How it behaves under load

The game runs on modest hardware, requiring only a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor and 1 GB of RAM. Integrated Intel HD Graphics meet the minimum DirectX 9.0c requirement, so sustained play does not stress a dedicated GPU. Performance remains consistent across long sessions because the 2D engine has no variable rendering load. A Steam account and internet connection are mandatory for activation and online features.

The specification that decides fit

DRM is tied exclusively to Steam, so the code cannot be redeemed on other storefronts or played offline without the client. Buyers who prefer DRM-free installers or a different launcher will not be able to use this version. The product is a digital licence only; no physical media or printed manual is supplied.

Questions about this item

Does running METAL SLUG X all day make the PC loud or hot?

The game only needs a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz processor and Intel HD Graphics, so it places very little load on modern hardware and will not noticeably increase fan noise or temperature.

What must I already own to activate the Steam code for model 86322?

You need a Windows Vista, 7 or 8 PC with 1 GB RAM, DirectX 9.0c and a free Steam account to redeem and install the game.

Will METAL SLUG X run on the same older Windows 7 machine I use for other legacy titles?

Yes, the minimum requirements list Windows 7, a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM and DirectX 9.0c, so it will run alongside other older games on that system.
