USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
The Sonilco USB 3.0 to Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet Adapter adds a wired network port to devices that lack one or have a faulty built-in port. It targets laptop, tablet and desktop users who need a stable 1 Gbps connection for video calls, large downloads or online gaming when Wi-Fi is unreliable.
USB 3.0 bandwidth and backward compatibility
The adapter operates over a USB 3.0 interface and negotiates speeds of 1000 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 10 Mbps or 1 Mbps depending on the network infrastructure. Actual throughput is limited by the USB 3.0 bus and the host controller, so sustained gigabit rates require a compatible USB 3.0 port and cable.
Driver-free support for listed macOS
Plug-and-play operation is confirmed for macOS 10.6 through 10.12, Windows 7, 8 and 10, and Chrome OS without additional driver installation. Buyers running newer operating systems or requiring managed-network features such as VLAN tagging or Wake-on-LAN should verify support before purchase.

Questions about this item
Should I pick this USB 3.0 adapter or look for a USB-C version instead?
This model uses a USB 3.0 connector. If your laptop only has USB-C ports, you will need a different adapter or a USB-C hub with Ethernet built in.
Will I actually see 1000 Mbps on my Windows 10 laptop?
The adapter supports up to 1 Gbps and is downward compatible with 100 Mbps, 10 Mbps and 1 Mbps. Real-world speed depends on your router, cable quality and ISP plan.
Does the USB 3.0 interface limit the gigabit link in any way?
USB 3.0 provides 5 Gbps bandwidth, well above the 1 Gbps Ethernet rate, so the port does not cap the network speed.
