24.2MP APS-C mirrorless kit

The Sony a6400 pairs a 24.2MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor with the BIONZ X processor for everyday photography and video work. The kit includes a 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II lens, a 128GB SanDisk Ultra card, bag, blower, card reader, cloth and cleaning kit. It suits creators who want a compact interchangeable-lens system with strong autofocus.

Sensor capacity and ISO headroom

The 24.2MP sensor delivers detail for prints and cropping while the native ISO 100-32000 range handles most lighting, expandable to 102400 for darker scenes. UHD 4K video records internally with S-Log3 and HLG profiles for grading flexibility. Continuous shooting and buffer depth will limit extended bursts or very long 4K clips.

Build, screen and daily handling

The magnesium-alloy body weighs little and fits small bags, while the 3.0-inch 921.6k-dot touchscreen tilts 180 degrees for vlogging and high angles. The 2.36m-dot OLED EVF gives a bright eye-level view. The 16-50mm power-zoom retracts for storage, and the kit bag, blower and cloth support basic field maintenance.

Questions about this item

Will the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II lens cover the same angles as my older APS-C kit lenses?

Yes — the 16-50mm zoom on this APS-C body gives the same field of view as any other 16-50mm lens on the format, so your existing wide-to-normal shooting habits transfer directly.

How can I confirm the Real-Time Eye AF is actually locking on eyes after I set it up?

Point the camera at a face; a green frame snaps over the nearest eye in the EVF or on the 3.0" tilting touchscreen and follows it as the subject moves.

Does the box include everything I need to start shooting 4K video, or must I buy a card separately?

The kit already contains a SanDisk 128GB Ultra card rated at 140MB/s, plus a card reader, bag, blower, cloth and starter cleaning kit — no extra purchase required for 4K recording.
