STEM trial kit for ages 8+

The Sony KOOV Trial Kit EKV-100U introduces children aged eight and up to coding, building, design and robotics. It combines colourful construction blocks with electronic modules so learners can create moving, sensing robots. The kit is designed as a complete starter set for hands-on STEM exploration at home or in the classroom.

86 blocks with core, motors and sensors

Eighty-six blocks provide enough pieces for several guided projects and open-ended builds. The included KOOV core, two DC motors, four wheels, LEDs and an IR photo reflector give motion, light and proximity sensing. Complex or larger models will need more blocks than the trial kit supplies.

Self-contained learning system

All components connect without extra tools, soldering or external controllers, so the kit works straight from the box. It frees educators and parents from sourcing separate electronics or software licences. Builders who want to expand beyond the included sensors and motors will need additional KOOV sets.

Questions about this item

Can the 86 blocks and core unit be combined with LEGO Technic pieces my child already owns?

The KOOV blocks use a proprietary connection system, so they do not interlock with LEGO Technic pins or beams; the two systems must be built separately.

How do I verify the KOOV core and two DC motors are functioning after the first build?

Open the KOOV app, run the built-in motor test — both motors should spin forward and reverse — and confirm the core’s status LED shows solid green.

Does the box include the IR photo reflector and four wheels, or must they be purchased separately?

The trial kit ships with the IR photo reflector and four wheels inside; no extra purchase is required for those parts.
