Floorstanding speaker for immersive audio

The Sony SS-CS3M2 is a single floorstanding speaker designed for immersive home audio. Its 3-way, 4-driver system delivers deep bass, natural mids, and crisp highs. A 5.12 in. woofer and high-precision tweeter ensure faithful sound reproduction across the frequency range. The bass reflex enclosure minimises distortion for clean low-frequency performance.

Buyers building a high-resolution stereo

This speaker suits listeners assembling a high-resolution audio setup with compatible Sony AV receivers and CS series speakers. It is sold individually, so a pair or more is required for stereo or surround sound. Buyers needing a complete system in one box or a powered speaker with built-in amplification should consider other options.

5.12 in. woofer sets the low-frequency foundation

The 5.12 in. woofer is the core driver responsible for boosting low-end frequencies and delivering dynamic bass. Its reinforced cone construction reduces distortion at higher volumes. This driver size determines the speaker's physical footprint and its ability to fill a room with deep, resonant sound.

Questions about this item

How deep does the 5.12 in. woofer reach before the bass reflex port takes over?

The tuned cabinet with rear bass reflex is designed to extend low-frequency performance, letting the 5.12 in. woofer and port work together for deeper bass output.

Does the cabinet stay cool and quiet during all-day listening sessions?

As a passive speaker with no built-in amplification, it generates no heat or fan noise; any warmth comes only from the connected amplifier.

Which amplifier connections are required to drive this floorstanding speaker?

Standard speaker-level binding posts accept bare wire, spades or banana plugs from any compatible stereo or AV receiver.
