Bright meeting-room projector

The Sony VPL-EW255 is a 3LCD business projector rated at 3200 ANSI lumens with a native 1280 x 800 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It accepts 1080p input and includes HDMI, USB and VGA connectivity plus built-in speakers. The unit is new and the lamp shows over 50 percent life remaining.

Suited for fixed installations

This model suits offices and classrooms that need a medium-throw projector for screen sizes between 30.55 and 300.20 inches with ceiling, rear or table-top mounting options. It works with Windows, Linux, Android and iOS or Mac devices. Buyers who require a higher native pixel count or a short-throw lens should consider other models.

Native resolution decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the 1280 x 800 native panel resolution, which sets the sharpness limit for text and detailed graphics regardless of the 1080p signal acceptance.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the VPL-EW255 get when running all day with its 3200 ANSI lumen lamp?

The 3200 ANSI lumen lamp produces typical projector heat; fan noise rises with brightness. Lamp hours show over 50% life remaining, so output stays stable during long sessions.

Which cables or sources must I already own to connect the VPL-EW255 via its HDMI, VGA and USB ports?

You need an HDMI cable for 1080p sources, a VGA cable for legacy PCs, and a USB cable or wireless dongle for Android, iOS, Linux or Windows devices.

Will the VPL-EW255’s 1280 x 800 native resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio match older 4:3 laptops and 1080p media players?

The 16:10 panel scales 4:3 input with pillar-boxing and down-scales 1080p signals to 1280 x 800, so older laptops and modern players both display correctly.
