Extension for Existing Toslink Cable

This male-to-female Toslink cable extends an existing optical audio link by 6.6 ft. It connects soundbars, TVs or home-theatre components that are too far apart for the original cable. The red PVC-and-cotton braided jacket protects the fibre core while staying flexible for routing. Removable rubber caps keep both connectors dust-free when not in use.

Toslink Optical Interface Limits

The Toslink interface carries uncompressed PCM stereo and compressed 5.1 to 7.1 surround formats such as Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution. Optical transmission eliminates radio-frequency and electromagnetic interference entirely. Bandwidth is defined by the Toslink standard itself; the cable adds no extra capability beyond that limit.

Capacity and Headroom

The 6.6 ft length provides comfortable reach for typical living-room layouts without signal degradation. The fibre core is tested to withstand over 15000 bends, giving ample durability margin for repeated repositioning. Runs longer than the supplied length or installations requiring tighter bends than the jacket allows will need a different solution.

Questions about this item

Is the 6.6 ft length right for bridging the gap between my soundbar and TV?

The cable is 6.6 ft long with male-to-female Toslink connectors, designed to extend an existing optical run without signal loss or added noise.

Will it carry Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution without compression?

Yes, it transmits uncompressed PCM and compressed 5.1 to 7.1 surround formats including Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution, free from electromagnetic interference.

What does the Toslink interface limit in a real installation?

The Toslink connectors carry digital optical audio only, so the link is capped at the bandwidth of the source device's optical output for surround formats up to 7.1 channels.
