The Vicks SpeedRead digital thermometer delivers a temperature reading in as little as eight seconds. It is designed for use by babies, children and adults in oral, rectal or underarm positions. A colour-coded Fever InSight display shows green for normal, yellow for elevated and red for high temperature. The device includes a memory recall of the last reading and an automatic shut-off to extend battery life.

Measurement speed and site limitations

The thermometer provides a result in up to eight seconds, which is slower than some infrared models that read in two seconds. It requires physical contact at oral, rectal or underarm sites and cannot measure temperature from the forehead or other surfaces without contact. The tip is not described as flexible, so positioning may be less comfortable for some users.

Single-reading memory recall

The unit stores only the most recent temperature reading in its memory. Buyers who need to track a series of readings over time will not be able to review a history on the device itself.
