A 40 A, single-pole plug-in breaker rated 120 V AC with a 10 kA interrupting capacity for Homeline load centres
This Square D Homeline miniature circuit breaker provides 40 A overcurrent protection on a 120 V AC single-phase circuit. It uses a plug-in mounting style that fits directly into compatible Homeline load centres. The paddle actuator gives clear on and off indication. It is rated for a maximum interrupting capacity of 10 kA at 120 V AC.
The breaker only accepts plug-in installation in Homeline-series panels and cannot be used in bolt-on or other manufacturers' load centres. Its AC voltage rating is 120 V and it carries no DC rating, so it must not be applied to DC circuits. The 10 kA interrupting rating defines the maximum prospective fault current it can safely clear at 120 V AC. Operating temperature minimum is 77 °F.
This unit replaces an existing 1-pole 40 A Homeline breaker that has tripped repeatedly, shows physical damage or no longer resets. The upgrade is worth it when the panel is a Homeline series and the circuit requires 40 A at 120 V AC with 10 kA interrupting capacity. It does not add poles, increase amperage or provide DC protection.

Choose the 40 A single-pole version when the circuit it protects is rated for 40 amps; other amperages exist but must match the wire size and load calculation for that branch.
It means the breaker can safely interrupt up to 10 000 amps of fault current at 120 V AC, which covers typical residential short-circuit levels.
It is designed exclusively for Homeline series load centres; the plug-in mounting and lug terminals will not fit other panel brands.
