Adds two SATA ports via PCI Express for Linux, macOS and Windows systems
This StarTech.com card adds two internal SATA connections through a single PCI Express slot. It suits system builders who need extra drive ports for hard disks or solid-state drives on a desktop or server board. The board works with Windows from XP through 11, plus Linux 2.6.32 and macOS 10.6.8 and later.
The card is useful when the motherboard SATA headers are full or when a legacy board lacks 6 Gbps support. It also helps if a chassis layout blocks the native ports. The jump is worth it whenever additional internal drives must be connected without replacing the mainboard.
Each port runs at the SATA 6 Gbps link rate, so sequential throughput scales with the attached drive rather than the adapter. Under continuous read or write loads the card maintains the link speed without thermal throttling, because the low-profile design draws minimal power and requires no active cooling.
Measured against everything we stock in PCIe Expansion Cards, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.
