Two-computer dual-monitor KVM

The StarTech C2-DH46-UA2-CBL-KVM is a compact cable KVM switch that lets one keyboard, one mouse and two displays control two computers. It suits home-office workers, developers or IT staff who need to share dual-monitor setups between a work laptop and a personal desktop without unplugging cables.

Passive switching with no external power

The unit draws operating power from the connected computers, so there is no separate adapter to route or fail. Because it contains no active electronics or fans, it adds no audible noise and negligible heat to the desk, keeping the workspace quiet and cool during long sessions.

Replaces manual cable swapping for dual-head users

It removes the daily hassle of reconnecting two video cables plus USB peripherals when moving between machines. The upgrade is worthwhile whenever you switch several times a day and want instant changeover; single-monitor users or setups that only need occasional switching will not see the same benefit.

Questions about this item

How do I connect two monitors and a keyboard to this 2-port compact 4K KVM switch?

Connect each computer's video outputs to the switch's dual-monitor ports, then plug the keyboard and mouse into the console USB ports; the step people miss is ensuring both video cables are seated on the same computer before switching.

What parts of this dual-monitor cable KVM switch will need replacement over time?

The integrated cables and USB connectors are the only wear items; repeated switching can loosen the cable ends, so plan to replace the full cable assembly if the connectors become intermittent.

What limit appears first when I run this KVM switch continuously at 4K resolution?

The 2.0000 kg chassis has no active cooling, so sustained 4K operation is limited by heat buildup in the sealed enclosure before any signal degradation occurs.
