Palo Alto Networks compatible SFP transceiver

The CG-ST is a copper SFP transceiver module designed, programmed and tested for Palo Alto Networks switches and routers. It provides 1 GbE connectivity over RJ-45 copper cabling for 1000Base-TX networks. The module is hot-swappable, allowing upgrades or replacements without powering down the host device. It meets or exceeds OEM specifications and Multi-Source Agreement industry standards.

100 metre reach over Cat5e or Cat6 copper

The transceiver delivers a maximum transfer distance of 100 m (328 ft) using standard Cat5e or Cat6 patch cables. Gigabit Ethernet over copper is limited to this range, so longer links require fibre-based SFP modules instead. The RJ-45 interface uses the 1000Base-TX standard and operates at 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps). Digital Diagnostics Monitoring is not supported on this module.

Low power consumption and high reliability headroom

The unit draws low power and carries an MTBF of 510469759 hours, giving extensive operational headroom for continuous deployment. It comfortably handles full-duplex 1 Gbps traffic within the 100 m copper limit. The module runs out of reach beyond 100 m and cannot support multi-gigabit or fibre distances. Buyers needing longer links or higher speeds must select a different transceiver type.
