Interface and Recording Quality

The StarTech.com AudioBox USB 96 25th Anniversary Edition is a 2-channel USB 2.0 audio interface designed for personal and portable recording. It provides 24-bit resolution and up to 96 kHz sample rates using studio-grade converters. Two Class-A microphone preamps and two high-headroom instrument inputs handle guitars, basses and line-level sources with MIDI I/O included.

Who This Suits

Solo musicians, podcasters and mobile producers who need bus-powered operation via USB 2.0 will appreciate the compact form factor and zero-latency monitoring through the mixer control. The bundle includes Studio One Artist, Ableton Live Lite and the Studio Magic Plug-In suite worth over 1000 dollars. Buyers needing more than two simultaneous inputs or dedicated line-level outputs should consider other options.

Deciding Specification

The interface offers exactly two microphone preamps and two instrument inputs as its core I/O count. If your sessions require recording more than two sources at once, this unit cannot accommodate that need. The USB 2.0 bus power and included software package complete the feature set for entry-level studio work.
