What this product is

The StarTech HDMI-SPLITTER-4K60UP is a two-port HDMI splitter that duplicates a single source signal across two displays. It supports 4K resolution at 60 Hz with HDR and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. The unit includes a 20-inch built-in input cable, a USB Micro-B power cable and a USB wall charger.

Who it suits and who it does not

This splitter suits users who need identical content on two screens such as digital signage, presentations or dual-monitor mirroring. It also suits setups mixing a 4K display with a 1080p display because the built-in downscaler handles both simultaneously. Buyers who need independent images on each screen or who require more than two outputs should look at a matrix switch or a multi-port splitter instead.

Capacity and headroom

The device delivers 18 Gbps total bandwidth and passes 7.1-channel audio with HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 compliance. It comfortably drives passive HDMI cables up to 16 feet and can reach further with active cables or extenders. Maximum power draw is 5 W from any 5 V 1 A USB source. It does not support resolutions above 3840 x 2160 or refresh rates above 60 Hz.

Questions about this item

What source connector does the built-in 20in cable plug into?

The built-in 20in HDMI cable ends in an HDMI male connector that plugs directly into the HDMI output of your source device.

Can I run one 4K display and one 1080p display at the same time?

Yes, the built-in downscaler auto-detects each display and clones the EDID from output port 1, allowing 4K and 1080p output simultaneously.

How do I confirm the splitter is passing a 4K 60Hz signal after setup?

Check each display's on-screen information menu; both should report 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz when the source is set to that resolution.
