What this cable is and who it serves

The StarTech HDMM21V2M is a passive HDMI 2.1 cable built for 48Gbps bandwidth. It links a source device with an HDMI 2.1 male port to a display with the same interface. The 2.0 metre length suits desktop or home-theatre runs where devices sit close together.

The spec that decides fit

Certified Ultra High Speed construction guarantees 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz with Dynamic HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Gold-plated 19-pin connectors and aluminium-Mylar foil plus braid shielding protect the 48Gbps signal path. HDCP 2.3 compliance secures protected content playback.

How it fits into a build

Male-to-male terminals plug directly into graphics cards, consoles, media players or laptops on one end and monitors, TVs or projectors on the other. The flexible TPE jacket survives 10000 insertions and 600 bends for repeated reconnection. eARC carries 32-channel audio including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to compatible receivers without a separate audio cable.

Questions about this item

Will the 48Gbps bandwidth actually deliver 8K at 60Hz on my display?

Yes, the cable is certified Ultra High Speed HDMI and supports the maximum 48Gbps data rate required for 8K 60Hz (7680 x 4320) video with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

Does the HDMI 2.1 interface limit audio to basic stereo?

No, the cable carries up to 32-channel audio and supports eARC for lossless formats including Dolby TrueHD, Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS:X.

What clearance do I need behind the TV for the 2m cable and its connectors?

The cable uses a flexible TPE jacket rated for 600+ bends and standard 19-pin HDMI male plugs, so it routes easily in tight spaces without bulky overmoulds.
