USB stereo audio adapter

The STARTECH ICUSBAUDIO turns a USB 2.0 port into a stereo sound card with separate 3.5 mm headphone and microphone jacks. It is aimed at laptop or desktop users who need a quick audio upgrade without opening the case. The adapter works on Windows 2000 through Windows 10 and on macOS, plus it supports headset use on PlayStation 3.

Single-channel microphone input

The device provides stereo output for headphones but accepts only mono microphone signals through the pink mini-jack. This covers voice chat, calls and basic recording, yet it cannot capture stereo audio from external sources. Users who need stereo line-in or multi-channel recording should look at a dedicated audio interface instead.

Passive USB-powered operation

Power comes directly from the USB 2.0 connection so no external supply is required. The palm-sized enclosure stays cool during normal use and adds no audible fan noise. Plug-and-play compliance means the adapter is recognised instantly by supported operating systems without driver installation.

Open Sound settings, select the adapter as the default playback and recording device, then play audio and test the microphone input level.

What comes in the box with the ICUSBAUDIO and do I need to buy any extra cables?

The package includes the adapter, a 9-inch USB extension cable, a driver CD and an instruction manual; no additional cables are required for basic headset connection.
