This StarTech.com SFP transceiver is a 1000BASE-LX module built for gigabit Ethernet links over fibre. It operates at 1310nm and accepts both single-mode and multi-mode cable with an LC duplex connector. The unit is coded for full HPE J4859C compatibility and also works in MSA-compliant switches from several other vendors. It targets network engineers who need a hot-swappable 1GbE uplink for HPE 1400, 1700, 1820, 2520, 2530 and similar switches.

Hot-swap install with DDM monitoring

The module slides into any SFP cage without tools and is hot-swappable in supported HPE routers and switches. Digital Diagnostic Monitoring reports real-time status to SNMP management tools so administrators can verify link health remotely. The only common issue is inserting the transceiver into a port that does not accept uncoded modules; such ports will not recognise the device. Ensure the switch firmware allows third-party optics before deployment.

Confirm that the target switch accepts uncoded or HPE-coded SFP modules and that its SFP ports support 1000BASE-LX at 1310nm.
