Steel Security Anchor Point

The StarTech LTANCHOR provides a fixed steel anchor point for a laptop cable lock, letting you secure a notebook, docking station or similar device to a desk, cabinet or other solid surface. It is intended for office, education or shared-workspace environments where portable equipment needs a permanent tie-down location.

Included Mounting Hardware Changes Installation

The package supplies two one-way wood screws, an alcohol wipe and an abrasive pad so the anchor can be screwed directly into wood or laminate without extra tools. The one-way screws resist removal, while the wipe and pad prepare the surface for a clean, tamper-resistant fit.

Single Anchor Handles One Cable Lock

The stainless-steel ring accepts a standard cable lock (sold separately) and withstands pulling force from any direction, giving a single device a reliable theft-deterrent point. It does not accommodate multiple locks or protect unattached peripherals, so each item needing security requires its own anchor.

Questions about this item

Will the one-way wood screws need replacing if I move the anchor to a different desk?

Yes, the two included one-way wood screws are designed for permanent installation and cannot be reused once removed; new screws would be required for relocation.

What force limit does the stainless-steel ring withstand before it becomes the weak point in a cable-lock setup?

The manufacturer states the ringed desk mount can withstand strong force from the cable lock in all directions, but no specific load rating or break-strength figure is provided.

Does the steel anchor generate any heat or noise when a cable lock is under constant tension all day?

No, the LTANCHOR is a passive stainless-steel anchor with no moving parts or electronics, so it produces zero heat and no audible noise under continuous load.
