Converts 10/100 Mbps Ethernet to multi-mode fibre over 2 km with ST duplex and RJ-45 ports
Type Multi Mode ST - 10/100 Mbps
The StarTech MCM110ST2 converts a 10/100 Mbps copper Ethernet link to multi-mode fibre using an ST duplex connector. It extends the connection up to 1.2 miles at 1310 nm wavelength. Network administrators use it to bridge buildings or floors where copper reach is insufficient. The unit supports full or half-duplex operation and passes IEEE 802.1q VLAN tags transparently.
The converter draws 2.4 watts from the included 115 V AC adapter that supplies 12 V DC at 0.2 A. It operates silently with no moving parts in environments from 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Storage tolerance stretches from 14 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. LED indicators show Ethernet link, fibre link, activity and far-end fault status for quick diagnostics.
The decisive specification is the 2 km maximum distance over multi-mode fibre. Buyers needing longer spans or single-mode fibre must choose a different converter. The ST duplex port and 10/100 Mbps rate fix the use case to legacy Fast Ethernet links. No gigabit or 10 gigabit throughput is supported.

Other versions of this model
Connect the RJ-45 to the copper switch and the ST duplex to multi-mode fiber; the step often missed is setting both ends to the same duplex mode — full or half — so the link negotiates correctly.
The external 115 V AC adapter rated at 12 V DC and 0.2 A is the only field-replaceable part; the converter itself has no moving parts or user-serviceable modules.
The specified operating ceiling is 50 °C (122 °F); sustained ambient heat above this level will cause the unit to exceed its rated thermal limit before any other constraint appears.
