150 ft Cat6 patch cable

This 150-foot Cat6 patch cable is built for Gigabit and multi-gigabit Ethernet runs up to 160 ft. It uses 24 AWG stranded copper conductors and supports Power over Ethernet up to 100 W. The white PVC jacket is CMG rated for general-purpose indoor installation. Snagless RJ-45 plugs protect the locking tabs during routing.

Bandwidth limits at length

Cat6 is specified to 250 MHz and supports 1, 2.5, 5 and 10 Gbps links up to 160 ft. Beyond that distance the standard drops to 1 Gbps, so runs longer than 160 ft will not sustain multi-gigabit speeds. The cable meets TIA/EIA-568-B.1-2001 T568B wiring and is tested to 500 MHz. Alien crosstalk is not controlled because the construction is unshielded UTP.

Gold contacts and snagless boots

Gold-plated contacts resist oxidation and maintain low resistance over repeated insertions. Snagless moulded boots prevent the latch from catching on adjacent cables or bulkheads, which reduces damage during moves or dense patch-panel work. The stranded conductor gives flexibility for tight bends behind racks or along baseboards. No shield means the cable is lighter and easier to pull, but it should be kept away from strong EMI sources.
