Adds two RS232 serial ports via PCI Express x1 using a dual 16C1050 UART with 256-byte FIFOs and 460 Kbps maximum data rate
The StarTech PEX2S1050 adds two RS232 DB9 ports to a desktop or server through a single PCI Express x1 slot. It uses a dual-channel 16C1050 UART with 256-byte FIFO buffers on each transmitter and receiver. The low-profile bracket fits compact chassis while a full-height bracket is also supplied.
Each port supports a maximum data rate of 460 Kbps, and the 16C1050 UART maintains that speed across both channels simultaneously without CPU overhead. The deep FIFO reduces interrupt frequency, so long transfers or continuous streams stay stable under multi-port load.
The card draws minimal power from the PCIe bus and has no active cooling, so it adds no audible noise to the system. Its 0.8-inch height and 4.7 by 4.1-inch footprint keep airflow unobstructed in dense enclosures. RoHS, WEEE and REACH compliance confirm restricted-substance adherence.

The card is a passive, low-profile design with no fan; the 16C1050 UART and PCIe x1 interface draw minimal power, so heat output stays low even during all-day operation.
You need a free PCI Express x1 slot (or larger) and the card ships with both standard-height and .8-inch low-profile brackets for either chassis type.
Yes — the dual 16C1050 UARTs with 256-byte FIFOs provide native RS232 signalling at up to 460 Kbps, matching older 16C1050 devices directly.
