Eight-port DisplayPort KVM switch

This 8-port KVM switch lets administrators manage eight DisplayPort computers from a single 4K 60Hz monitor, keyboard, mouse and audio output. A built-in four-port USB 2.0 hub shares peripherals across all connected systems. It is suited for server rooms, labs and multi-platform workstations that require BIOS-level access without software agents.

Rackmount operation under continuous use

The unit mounts in 1U of a 19-inch rack with a minimum depth of 6.5 inches (165mm) and complies with ANSI/EIA RS-310-D. Push-button and hotkey switching provide instant port changes, while LEDs and an audible buzzer confirm the active channel during extended management sessions. OS independence ensures consistent behaviour across Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and ARM-based platforms.

4K 60Hz DisplayPort 1.2 video support

The console DisplayPort delivers 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz via DP 1.2, which is the specification that determines whether your monitor and sources are compatible. If a higher refresh rate or newer DisplayPort version is required, this switch will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

How much heat or fan noise does the R8AD122-KVM-SWITCH generate when it runs continuously in a 1U rack space?

The unit has no fan and draws power from the included universal barrel adapter, so it adds negligible heat and makes no audible noise beyond the confirmation buzzer when you switch ports.

Which cables and console peripherals must I already have to connect eight computers to this KVM switch?

You need eight DisplayPort cables, eight USB Type-B to Type-A cables, eight 3.5 mm stereo audio cables, plus one DisplayPort monitor, one USB keyboard, one USB mouse and optional speakers for the console side.

Will the switch pass 4K 60 Hz from older DisplayPort 1.2 graphics cards without downscaling or frame-rate loss?

Yes, the switch supports 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz over DisplayPort 1.2, so legacy DP 1.2 sources display at their native resolution and refresh rate.
