What the kit does

The StarTech RDA1U rail depth adapter kit adjusts the mounting depth of a single 1U rack unit by four inches. It lets installers expand or reduce the equipment depth inside standard server racks and cabinets. The black brackets work with any rack-mountable hardware that fits a 1U form factor. Thermal noise and power

The adapter brackets are passive metal components with no moving parts, fans or electrical connections. They add no heat, no audible noise and draw no power in normal operation. Their only effect on thermals is the slight change in airflow spacing that results from moving equipment four inches forward or backward in the rack.

Build integration

The kit mounts directly to standard square-hole or threaded rack rails and accepts the equipment's own mounting screws. It frees up depth-constrained bays so shorter devices can share a rack with deeper units, or lets deeper chassis sit in shallower cabinets.
