Server room KVM link

This six-foot cable connects a StarTech.com rackmount console to a VGA and USB-equipped server. A single combined plug on the console side carries both video and keyboard-mouse signals, reducing the number of cords running through the rack. The cable jacket uses PVC with aluminium-Mylar foil and braid shielding, and the connector contacts are nickel-plated. It is built new for guaranteed compatibility with the RKCONS console series.

Resolution ceiling at 1920x1200

The link supports high-definition video up to 1920x1200 or 1080p when paired with an HD rackmount console. Bandwidth beyond that resolution is not available, so servers running higher native modes will be scaled down. The USB channel operates at the 2.0 specification, limiting peripheral speed to that standard. Longer runs beyond the offered 4.6 metre maximum are not supported by this cable family.

Console-side single connector

The defining feature is the unified connector that mates with the RKCONS console, merging VGA and USB into one interface. Buyers whose rack console uses separate video and USB ports cannot use this cable. Servers without VGA output or without USB keyboard-mouse ports also fall outside the supported configuration.
